The Barcelona Half Marathon, the first long distance race held in the city each year, in its 21st edition will take place this year on January 30th on the distance of 21.097 km, certified by the Royal Spanish Athletic Federation (RFEA), with the start and end on the Passeig Lluis Companys.

The Barcelona Half Marathon is the opening event in a series of Barcelona races open to all runners, and it is also used as preparation for the Barcelona Marathon that will take place in March.

As in all races of this type, the start has been divided into sections in function of the best official Half Marathon time of each participant. Each section will be colour-coded and only those runners with a corresponding colour race number can start from that section. The start will be staggered with two starting times, one at 9 AM and the second approximately 5 minutes later.

The maximum time to complete the race is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The sweep vehicle will move at the corresponding speed through kilometers 10 and 15. All athletes unable to finish under the maximum permitted time will not be provided with a classification result.
In las year  20th edition  of the Barcelona Half Marathon more than 4000 runners qualified running all the distance; but for runners who are still not daring enough to make the leap up to a 21 kilometer race, there is also the chance to get the 10 km. time and classification.
The Check out time is at 9 am at the Plaza Lluis Companys. The end time (maximum) is at 11.30am. Two hours making the 21 km leg of the race.

The race goes through of some of Barcelona most popular streets going through Passeig Lluis Companys, Passeig Picasso, Passeig Isabel II,  Via Layetana , Plaça Catalunya, all Las Rambas to Columbus monument, Avinguda del Parallel, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Passeig de Sant Joan,  going again to  Passeig Lluis Companys and Passeig Picasso turning to Passeig de Circumvalació around Parc de la Ciutadella, going through 22@ in Poble Nou neighborhood through Marina Street, Pallars Street, Alaba Street, Bolivia Street  to get to the Agbar Tower and the new Boulevard of Diagonal Avenue down to Diagonal Mar/Parc de Forum area, through Josep Pla Street, Selva de Mar Street and continue through the avenues on the seaside, Passeig de Gracia Faria, Avinguda del Litoral and Salvador Espriu Street in front of the Mapfre Tower and the Hotel Arts Tower, to connect back with Passeig de Circumvalació, Passeig Picasso and Passeig Lluis Companys to end up at the Arc the Triomf.
