Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya
Moto GP, Circuit de Catalunya - Montmelo, July 2010
In July 4th 2010 it will take place in the Circuit de Catalunya near the city of Barcelona the 7th race of this year Moto GP World Championship, the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya. This year the Spanish riders will visit the Montmelo Circuit with excellent results in the previous races and with five riders at the top of the 3 categories.
In Moto GP Spanish Jorge Lorenzo with Yamaha is at the top of the World Championship after his fourth win of the season at the TIM TT Assen on June 26 with 47 point difference from also Spanish Dani Pedrosa with Repsol Honda on second position and that was also second in the Assen race. With Valentino Rossi out of the races after his accident in Mugelo it looks like, if nothing else happens, that Lorenzo has the road open to win for the first time the Moto GP Championship.
In Moto 2 even Toni Elias with the Moriwaki MD600 was beaten by Italian Andrea Iannone with the FTR in the Assen circuit he still leads up the Championship with 24 points over Japanese Shoyo Tomizawa with the Suter that only could end up in fifth position in the Assen Race.
In 125 young Spanish Marc Marquez with Derbi won his third race in a row in Assen, after the Mugelo and Siverstone, and is in third position in the championship. Another Spanish rider, Nico Terol with the Aprilia, recovered the lead on the championship, being second in Assen ahead of also Spanish Pol Espargaro with Derbi for only 3 points (Terol, Espargaro and Marquez are the only riders that have won races this year in 125).
With all this background the race, at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo near Barcelona, has all the ingredients of emotion for both riders and fans of motorcycles in Spain.
