Deception in Barcelona as tennis player Rafa Nadal, after an excellent week winning the Monte Carlo tennis tournament for the 6th year in a row, has announced that he will not be playing in the Barcelona Open BancSabadell 2010,  58 º Trofeo Conde de Godo. Even mentioning that the Conde de Godo is his home tournament, he also mentioned that the tennis calendar, especially the clay season is badly structured and, he fears that, as it happened last year after playing to many tournaments his knees can cause him problems in the next weeks.  Rafa Nadal will not defend his title at the Conde de Godo as he has decided to save some energy for future tournaments, especially Rome Masters and Roland Garros. Nadal had won the last 5 Conde de Godo tournaments.
This year probably a new player will inscribe his name as winner of the 2010 Open BancSabadell.

The Barcelona Open BancSabadell 2010 will be an opportunity to see if Rafael Nadal is back to his best conditions, after the injuries from last year that has kept him away from the results used to have before and that made him loose his condition of World No. 1, kept from 18 August 2008 to 5 July 2009.
Nadal, winner of the last five tournaments, and Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro are the head the official player entry list for 58th edition of the Conde de Godo Trophy, ATP World Tour competition. Other three top-10 players, Russian, Nikolay Davydenko, Swedish, Robin Soderling and Chilean, Fernando González, together with 8 other players of the first 25 form part of the official entry list that consists of 43 players, who will be joined in the main draw by seven qualifiers, a ‘Special Exempt’, and the recipients of five wild card invitations from the organizers. Two of the wild card invitations would be reserved for Spanish former champion Carlos Moyá, and Argentinean David Nalbandián, neither of whom were ranked high enough to enter the tournament directly due to extended injury-enforced absences over the past year.
Nadal will be looking forward to raise his record of five consecutive victories in Barcelona, in a run of 25 wins in a row which began in 2005 and has still not lost a match in this tournament since then. In 2007 and last 2009 Nadal also won the tournament without dropping a set.
Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro will make his debut in Barcelona. The winner of last year's U.S. Open and confirmed as one of the greats of world tennis in a 2009 season after his results also as finalist in the Masters Cup, champion Washington tournament, finalist in Montreal, and also semifinalist at Roland Open, Madrid and Miami.
The Barcelona Open BancSabadell 2010, 58 Trofeo Conde de Godo, will take place on the slopes of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, the oldest Spanish tennis club, between 16th and April 25 2010.

Davis Cup by BNP Paribas

The 2009 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Final will be played this weekend (december 4,5 and 6) in Barcelona, in the covered Palau Sant Jordi over a Red Clay surface. The first two matches on Friday will be played by R. NADAL from Spain versus T.BERDYCH from Czech Republic and D.FERRER from Spain versus R.STEPANEK from Czech Republic. The double match will be played on Saturday with the couples formed by F.LOPEZ / F.VERDASCO from Spain versus L.DLOUHY / J.HAJEK from Czech Republic. The last two individuals will be played on Sunday starting at 12:00Hs with R.NADAL (SP) v. R.STEPANEK (CZE) and after D.FERRER (Sp) v. T.BERDYCH (CZE).  The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. The largest annual international team competition in sports, run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested between teams of players from competing countries in a knock-out format. The winner of last year ,Spain, is looking forward to win the Cup for the 4th time (2000, 2004, 2008), and for the second time in Barcelona in the Palau Sant Jordi.

The traditional tennis tournament in Barcelona, the Trofeo Conde de Godó, will be back this year sponsored by Banc Sabadell and that will stay as main sponsor for the next three years. The events’ new name, ‘Open SabadellAtlántico’ will take effect from the forthcoming edition of the tournament, set to be staged at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 from April 26th-May 4th, 2008.
Advance ticket sales for the Open 2008 SabadellAtlantico • 56th Trofeo Conde de Godó, set to take place from 24th April – 4th May 2008 will go sale from March 3rd at the ticket office of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, with season tickets to attend all sessions of the event being the first to be made available.
Looking forward to see if Rafael Nadal is confirmed to be back in Barcelona this year and try to win the title, for the fourth time on a row, of this prestigious clay court tournament on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.

OPEN SEAT 2007 - 55º Trofeo Conde de Godo

Rafael Nadal is confirmed to play in 2007 the Open Seat 55th Trofeo Conde de Godo. The Mallorcan player, current number 2 in the ATP ranking, will be back in Barcelona to try to win the title for the third time on a row of this prestigious clay court tournament on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona between the 21st and the 29th of April 2007. This year, as the old court, constructed in 1961, has been demolished, a new main court with an increased capacity up to 7500 seats, which includes two rows of VIP boxes for sponsors, will be ready to receive the tournament. As a prelude to the Open SEAT 2007, US player John McEnroe, Austrian Thomas Muster, French players Cédric Pioline and Henri Leconte, and Spanish Sergi Bruguera, Emilio Sánchez Vicario and Jordi Arrese, will be the Black Rock Tour of Champions stars in 2007, a competition that will take place on Central Court of Real Club de Tenis Barcelona between the 19th and the 22nd of April.
