NBA Europe Live Tour 2010

This year the NBA Europe Live 2010 Tour will be back in Barcelona concluding the tour at the Palau Sant Jordi in October 7 when the Los Angeles Lakers take on Regal FC Barcelona. The NBA Europe Live 2010 Tour will start with the match between the New York Knicks against Euroleague team Armani Jeans on 3 October at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, after the Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the The O2 in London on October 4 and the Timberwolves will challenge the Knicks in Paris at Palais Omnisports Paris Bercy on October 6.
In Barcelona two very well known teams, one from the NBA (Los Angeles Lakers) and one from the Euroligue (Regal FC Barcelona) will play an emotional match as it is going to be the day that Pau Gasol player of The Lakers', and a two-time Most Valuable Player with FCB, will return to play against his former team. Pau Gasol i Sáez was born in July 6, 1980 in Sant Boi close to Barcelona, Spain. He spent his childhood growing up in Spain. When he was sixteen, he began playing for Barcelona's junior team and after in the senior team of Barcelona. In 2001, the last year he played with the Spanish team the FC Barcelona was victorious in the Spanish National Cup championship game.
The FCB (now Regal FC Barcelona), is renowned as one of the most formidable teams in European basketball history, and has recently qualified for the 2010 Euroleague Final Four; also counts five European titles, 15 Spanish League titles, and 20 Spanish National Cup..
The L.A. Lakers is one of the most famous teams in the NBA and with more history on the world of basketball. Los Angeles Lakers have won 16 NBA titles, the last in the 2008-2009 season, and is the first international trip since they played in Paris in 1991.

Bikeshow BCN 2010, Festa de la Bici i dels Patins

On the 15 and 16 of May it will take place in Barcelona the edition of Bikeshow 2010, Festa de la Bici I dels Patins (Feast of the bike and skates) organized by the council for the 5th year, in  the Plaça de Llevant of the Parc del Forum in the Diagonal Mar Area. Throughout the weekend, also will be numerous displays of freestyle skating, speed and jumping with great specialists of these arrangements, and even it will be enabled a zone of slippage on skates. The presence of skating in this festival will accompanied by out hockey games and online exhibitions, a specialty very fast and spectacular sport. The main interest is to promote the skate world as a means of entertainment and sports, but also as a form of urban expression and as a means of sustainable transport perfectly integrated into the landscape of the city.
The Bike Show BCN is also intended to be an event in the world of cycling as a showcase for all the brands that want to go directly to the potential buyers.
In total it will be an area of over 50,000 m2 for the world of cycling and skating, with a wide range of possibilities. With the cooperation of institutions, sports organizations and also with the brands and companies that lend their support to this initiative, the Bikeshow and the Feast of the bike and skates will have also a children's activity area, a space dedicated to the bike as a means of urban transport, as well as practice areas for free-style patterns and a large number of exhibits. The proposals are accompanied by many road circuits and skills for leisure, learning and improvement.
The schedule of activities will be on Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

BARCELONA BOSC URBA

For lovers of adventure sports now there is a place in Barcelona where to enjoy sports like Foxes, Swinging Bridges, Network Roads, Lianas, Bungee Jumping, Vertical Pirate Networks, Rope Bridges logs and others placed on different platforms up to 9 meter high. The Forum Barcelona Urban Forest is a new concept of adventure space: an adventure urban park of 6,000 square meters with more than 30 attractions, located in the Plaça del Forum.
The Plaça del Forum inside the Parc del Forum is a network of about 100 columns, left from the structures built for the Forum Universal de las Culturas 2004, that now is used to install the obstacles placed on the platforms up to 9 meters high the tallest and up to 120 meters the longest.
Three circuits have been displayed differentiated by height and level and type of difficulty: the Orange Circuit with small level of difficulty is for children from 4 to 10 years or up to 1.30 meters high and it consists of 14 platforms located 1.5 meters above ground; The Blue Circuit with a medium difficulty level suitable for children from 8 years old, families and adults, and consists on 19 platforms located 4 meters above the ground; and the Red Circuit prepared for advanced lovers of strong emotions and for those who are thrilled to enjoy and download maximum adrenaline, with 20 platforms located over 6 meters from the ground ending with the Zip line over 120 meters.
It is required before making any circuit, regardless on experience or previous training, to do the training course supervised by a monitor.

NBA in Europe, American Professional Basketball

The NBA is preparing for the next season 2008-09 as the season will officially star in October 28 with the Cavaliers-Celtics game that will also feature the championship ring ceremony to the actual champions the Boston Celtics.

As for the past three years there is a pre season tour of different professional basketball teams from The NBA preparing the next season 2008-09; This year unlike the previous ones, the teams will not play against local teams.The Miami Heat and the New Jersey Nets will face each other in London and Paris, while the New Orleans Hornets and the Washington Wizards will do so in Berlin and Barcelona (October 17).

Founded in 1967 the New Jersey Nets based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, play in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division and play their home games at the Izod Center,and are playing with the actual name since 1977. It is problable that they will be moving to Brooklyn in 2009 or 2010.
Founded in 1987 the Miami Heat (better known as the HEAT)based in Miami, Florida, play in the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division, and play their home games at the American Airlines Arena. The HEAT always have used the same name.
Founded in 1988 the New Orleans Hornets based in New Orleans, Louisiana play in the Western Conference's Southwest Division,and have used the actual name in two periods, first from 2002 to 2005 and from 2007 on. They play their home games at the New Orleans Arena.
Founded in 1961 the Washington Wizards based in Washington, D.C. play in the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division, and play their home games at the The Verizon Center  nicknamed the "Phone Booth" because of the association with telecommunications companies. The Washington Wizards are using the actual name since 1997.

BARCELONA EXTREME SPORTS FESTIVAL

For the First time in Barcelona the biggest event in extreme sports with a surface of 5.000 m2 of sport facilities and seven different areas for the competitions.Prominent National and International riders will attend to the international competitions of Skateboard, BMX, Inline, FMX, Wakeboard, Ski and Snowboard in the Barcelona Extreme Sport Festival together with amateur competitions, exhibitions and clinics. A big Skatepark of 1225m2 will be build together with a long ramp of 80 meters for the Freestyle Motocross (FMX), a Streetpark of 800m2 for BMX and Inline, a big area of 1000 m2 for urban jibbing covered with permasnow base, an spectacular Half Pipe 14 meters wide, 12 meters long and 4 meters high for Skate, BMX and Inline, and also it will be enabled a wakeboard 300m long at the mouth of the Port del Forum. The International Competitions will be divided intodifferent categories:
The INTERNATIONAL SKATEBOARD PRO-SERIES for individual competition of Skaters in disciplines of Half Pipe and Street
The INTERNATIONAL BMX PRO-SERIES for Specialists on top of their bicycles; turns in the air, flights and all kinds of fantastic shapes and breaks in two disciplines.
The INTERNATIONAL INLINE PRO-SERIES. This competition forms port of the World Circuit P.I.L. that takes places in different countries like Japan, England, Germany, the U.S.A, China and othersn ; and brings together the main international inliners in the form of Street.
The WAKE INTERNATIONAL PRO-SERIES for specialists on wakeboard and wakeskate performing jumps and ramps and handrails drawing figures carried by water jet motos.
The FMX X-BATTLE for members of the Red Bull team that will look forward for the leadership in the freestyle European motocross.
The URBAN JIBBING SEAT PRO-SERIES. The Open Freestyle Seat Circuit Season will open with this first test for the best ski and snowboard specialists on the modality of handrails in male and female category.

IFSA World Cup 2008

Freestyle Skating in Barcelona, June/July 2008

The IFSA World Cup 2008 will be taking place through the year in Europe Bruxelles-BELGIUM, Nice-FRANCE, Milano-ITALY, also in CHINA, and once again in Barcelona on the 6th and 7th of September.
The competitions in China and Barcelona will qualify for the World Championship 2009.
IFSA represents inline skaters and roller skaters of different sports. The official sports for the world cup are: Freestyle Slalom, Speed Slalom, High Jump and Free Jump.
Each sport is independent from another. Competitors can perform in one, two, three or the four sports.
Barcelona also received last year the IFSA Championship 2007, with a great success at the Park del Clot.

HYUNDAI OPEN Barcelona

SWATCH FIVB Beach Volley World Tour 08, May/June 2008.

During the last week of May, Barcelona will receive, for the first time, the world’s best Beach Volleyball players looking forward for the Olympics. Barcelona will be one of the final qualifying tournaments for the best 24 men’s teams and the best 24 women’s teams looking forward on Beijing 2008.
After the events in Australia, China and Prague the Barcelona Hyundai Open is part of the SWATCH FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, which includes players from all five continents participating in more than 35 events.
Form May 26 till june 1st the Hyundai Open Barcelona will take place in a magnificent 3.500-seat stadium build up especially for the occasion close to the Magic Fountain (La Font Màgica) in the Montjuíc Mountain in front of the impressive Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and beside the Pavelló Mies van der Rohe.
More than 2,200 tons of sand has been brought to prepare the Central court and the adjoined courts where the different matches will take place through the week.
