Salon Nautico - Barcelona International Boat Show

Gran Via Exhibition Centre of the Fira de Barcelona and the Port Vell - November 2010
The 49th edition of the annual Barcelona International Boat Show (Salon Nautico), the biggest in Spain and one of the top events of its kind in Europe, will be presenting all the services, products and innovations in every sector of the nautical industry in the classical venues of the Show.
At the Gran Via Exhibition Centre of the Fira it will be located the five traditional themed Areas:
The Innovation zone will be showcasing the new projects from design centers and R+D+I projects, engineering practices and shipyards featuring some of the most innovative ideas for the nautical industry, a great opportunity to discover the latest trends in new technological developments.  The Fun Beach zone revealing the secrets of the sea, aimed primarily for young people for them to sail in a pool on board canoes, kayaks and dinghies, the best way to learn about the sea. The Traditional Sailing Zone  where ‘Sea wolves’ and fishermen recount their stories, sharing space with artisans building boats in the traditional way, with a backdrop of schooners, dornas and other traditional wooden fishing boats. Homage to our historical heritage where you can join also in workshops, view exhibitions or listen to different performances. The Fishing Zone to promote responsible fishing that features fishing tackle and virtual simulators that reproduce the experience of deep-sea fishing, and presenting also various educational and recreational activities to promote responsible fishing among children. Several sea- and river-fishing championships will also be featured. And  the Espai del Mar Zone, an space for debate and discuss issues concerning the marine environment and every aspect of sailing, presenting also at the show  the main regattas like the The King’s Cup, the S.A.R. Princesa Sofía – Mapfre Trophy, the Christmas Race and the Salt Route.
At the Port Vell of Barcelona there will be the Floating Exhibition, the opportunity to see large vessels and mega-yachts.
The show will be in Barcelona from the 6 to the 14 of November.

Liber 2010 International Book Fair

The 28th Edition of The International Book Fair Liber 2010 will return in September to Barcelona. The Liber International fair is an annual event that alternates the cities of Madrid and Barcelona. This year’s edition in Barcelona will bring Puerto Rico as a guest of honor. The Liber Book Fair will take place from 29 September to 1 October at the Hall 1 of the Gran Via Exhibition Centre of the Fira Barcelona, bringing the latest news in the market and with numerous workshops to discuss challenges and opportunities of the national and international future of the publishing industry.
Promoted by the Federation of Editors (FGEE), Liber is the largest professional meeting of the sector in Spain, and it is aimed at all professionals in the book industry as publishers, booksellers, distributors, librarians, authors, educators, graphic arts, literary agents and service providers.
As in previous calls will be handed the following awards: the Boixareu Ginesta Award for the Best bookseller, the Liber Tribute given to a person or institution in recognition of his work in favor of books, the Prize for the best initiative to promote reading in libraries open to the public and the Prizes for the Promotion of Reading to the Media in sections of Radio, Television and Press.
Liber is sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), the Generalitat de Catalunya, Instituto de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, the Spanish Center of Reprographic Rights (CEDRO) and the Association of Editors de Catalunya.

European Respiratory Society

The 20th Anniversary of the European Respiratory Society will be celebrated in Barcelona during the annual Congress. This is the Year of the Lung and special scientific and social events are being planned for the 2010 ERS Congress. The sessions, which involve leading experts in respiratory medicine, but also in other areas, cover the entire spectrum of research and practice in respiratory medicine, from cell and molecular biology, through clinical diagnosis and management to prevention of public health.
The Symposia will cover the most recent topics on research and clinical practice, including, Integrated care for chronic respiratory disease, Similarities and differences between asthma and COPD, Novel molecular targets for inflammatory and infectious lung diseases, Challenges in sleep medicine: ventilatory failure during sleep, Noninvasive ventilation for acute respiratory failure, Treatment of the bacteriological variety in lung diseases, Food allergy and asthma: issues and controversies, Treatment of bronchial infection, Effective oxygen therapy in home care, Asthma and sports, Severe exacerbations in asthma and COPD: new causes, new mechanisms, new models of care ,Breathing therapies for asthma, Lung cancer: progress after first-line therapy and customized chemotherapy, High priority questions on airway infections in diseases seen in children and adults, Nutrition and cancer.
The educational program, covers all aspects of respiratory medicine, and will include 23 Postgraduate Courses, which will take place on Saturday 18 September 2010, 18 Meet the Professor Seminars, interactive intimate lunchtime seminars which take place from Sunday 19 September 2010 to Tuesday 21 September 2010, 1 Workshop, which will take place on Saturday 18 September 2010 and The third HERMES European Examination in Adult Respiratory Medicine.
The Event will take place in the FIRA BARCELONA, Gran Via Venue at Plaza Europa-Avenida Juan Carlos I, from the September 18 to 22.

15th Congress of EHA

The Annual Congress of the European Hematology Association will celebrate its 15th anniversary in Barcelona, Spain, from June 10-13 of 2010.
The European Hematology Association (EHA) aims to promote excellence in clinical practice, research and education in European hematology, and the congresses have become the most significant hematology meeting in Europe, offering presentations of latest research, relevant both to basic scientists and clinical scientists as well as state of the art education sessions for clinicians and hematologists in training.
Oral presentations and poster sessions offer opportunities for investigators, especially younger scientists to present their work. The program will also include Hematology-in-Focus sessions and Meet-the-Expert sessions, as well as Lunch Debates and EHA Scientific Working Group meetings. These activities have already a well established tradition as part of the EHA congress program and are recognized by their high quality.
The event will take place in the Gran Via Venue of the Fira Barcelona. 

12th international Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition

The International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition will be back to Barcelona for the 12th consecutive year  at the Gran Via Venue of the Fira Barcelona. It is an Exhibition which, as a result of sector involvement, continues beating records, growing year after year and consolidating itself as the leading Exhibition in Spain and Southern Europe as an international point of reference where all logistics sectors are represented.
During the 2010 Exhibition, it will take place the 13th Symposium as well as the 8th Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum, accompanied by the already traditional sector meetings, all of them filled with outstanding figures in logistics, plus support from the main institutions related to the sector.
The technical conferences to be held will bring answers to the various applications received. Among the topics most requested by professionals who have participated in this campaign include the current challenges of the new technologies of supply chains, different aspects of goods transport by road, intermodal, alternative picking (light, voice or vision), efficiency and cost reduction in the supply chain, corporate social responsibility, sustainability criterias, issues of Green Logistics and reverse logistics or matters related to urban logistics.

Roxy Music at Sonar 2010

The English group Roxy Music will be performing in Barcelona during the Sonar 2010 Festival. The group formed in 1971 by art school graduate Bryan Ferry, the group's vocalist and chief songwriter, Phil Manzanera on the guitars, Andy Mackay playing saxophone and oboe, Paul Thompson on the drums and percussion  and Brian Eno with the synthesizer and "treatments" attained popular and critical success in the UK and Europe during the 1970s and early 1980s. In 1983 Ferry dissolved the band and they devoted themselves to their solo careers.
In 2001 Ferry, Manzanera, Mackay, and Thompson reunited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band and toured extensively for 2 years. Since then they have given several concerts and toured also in Europe to places they had never visited before. The Barcelona Sonar concert will be the only concert in Spain and it will happen nearly after three decades of their last show in Barcelona.

25th Anniversary EAU Congress

The European Association of Urology will hold this year the 25th Annual EAU Congress and has chosen Barcelona to host the Congress, from 16-20 April 2010. The latest news in the field of urology will be presented during the 5 days of the Congress that will bring together medical professionals from around the world and also there are more than 11,000 delegates together with approximately 3,000 company representatives expected to attend this event.
The 25th Anniversary EAU Congress marks a quarter of a century of continuing efforts to elevate European urology to a higher level. Over the last 25 years, the EAU has consistently served as a platform for urological professionals to share new insights and improve knowledge, with the common goal of improving patient care worldwide. In this Congress a wide range of topics and pressing issues in the specialty will be presented, including pediatrics, bladder cancer, female urology, renal cell carcinoma, reconstruction and functional urology, benign prostatic obstruction and stones, to name but a few.
The Gran Via Venue of the Fira Barcelona, one of Spain’s largest congress venues, has been chosen as the venue for the 25th Anniversary EAU Congress. Sonar 2010 Barcelona

The 17th International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art Sonar 2010 will take place, for the first time simultaneously in the cities of Barcelona and A Coruña (Sonar Galicia) coinciding with the Xacobeo (Compostela’s Jubilee). The Sonar Festival confirmed dates are 17, 18 and 19 June, and presents a line-up that will be, to a large extent, shared by the two cities. Salon Nautico - Barcelona International Boat Show

The 48th edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show will be held from the 7 to the 15 November 2009 bringing together the widest offer and the latest nautical and leisure products. For the first time ever the Show will take up the five halls in the Gran Via Exhibition Centre and the On-water Show in the Port Vell will exceed the 250 boats.
A highlight of this year’s show will be the first BCN Dive, dedicated to the underwater world, on the first few days of the International Boat Show of Barcelona. BCN Dive will be held in pavilion 5 of the Gran Vía exhibition centre and expects the participation of around a hundred companies.
Fira de Barcelona's Administrative Board has appointed Luis Conde, founder and member of the head hunter firm Seeliger y Conde, as president of the Organizing Committee for the Barcelona International Boat Show after the death last year of Enric Puig who had been president of the show for  the 11 past years.

CONSTRUMAT 30th anniversary

The Biennial International Construction Exhibition of Barcelona, Construmat, is celebrating the 16th Edition and its 30th anniversary. For the first time the Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via Exhibition Centre will house all the exhibits of this 30 year-old show which has become the number one show of its kind in Spain and one of the three most important in Europe. From 20th to 25th of April 2009.
Construmat will again be the reference point for the construction sector in a year marked by economic crisis. The International Construction Show, Construmat will again become a major showcase for the construction sector, despite the economic crisis, which affects this sector especially.
Visitors will have access to every single sector at Construmat without having to move between venues, thus optimizing their time. The unification of the event in a single venue will lead to even better synergies between different professional profiles. 
Together with the fair it will take place also other activities like:
The Showcase of Casa Barcelona that is set to surprise again presenting innovative ideas for contemporary homes from renowned architects for sustainable social housing in a two-storey, 300 m2 module, with imaginative and realistic solutions to the housing problem.
And also the Construmat 2009 Awards for technological innovation in its 13th edition covering three diffirent categories: Building, Civil engineering and Product for the construction industry. All new-build projects and works on existing buildings that were completed in Spain between January 2007 and December 2008 are entitled to take part.

Sonar Festival in Barcelona 2008

As every other year in June in Barcelona is time for the Sonar Festival. The Sonar is a carefully curated electronic music festival and multimedia showcases.
Sonar is considered in European electronic panorama a festival of reference for artists of last generation, electronic professionals and a place were to see the most influential companies of the sector of music and arts.
The combination of concerts, DJs sessions, audio-visual areas of artistic experimentation and projections has called up the attention of the most demanding European and Spanish public during the 3 days without interruption on the different venues were the Festival takes place.
The dates for the 2008 Sonar Festival are June 19, 20, and 21. The artist and showcase lineup has yet to be announced.

10th Edition of SIL 2008

The International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition (SIL) has arrived to the 10th edition in Barcelona. International Food and Beverage Exhibition. Every two years Alimentaria, the International Food and Beverage Exhibition, is back in Barcelona showing the world’s food and beverage. The event will take place in March 2008 from the 10th to 14th at Fira Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain), with 85% of the Spanish food and beverage industry expected to be there. For this new edition, the show’s organisers have undertaken to reorganise the exhibition space. For the first time since the show has been held in two venues, due to their increasing growth, the Intercarn and Restaurama shows will be located in Montjuic, while the rest of the sectors with be grouped together in the modern Gran Vía venue. This new show of the food and beverage industry, the seventeenth edition of Spain’s most important trade show and one of the world’s leading events of its kind, will bring over estimations, 155,000 visitors, close to 5,000 exhibitors and 167 million euros in revenue for the city of Barcelona.
Another innovation for Alimentaria 2008 is that for the first time in its history, two of the trade show’s areas – Innoval and a new tasting area dedicated to tapas – will be open to the general public.

More than 2000 boats on display at this edition of the Salon Nautico (Barcelona International Boat Show), the most spectacular vessels and a huge range of accessories for sailing, fishing, surfing and scuba diving will be on show between November 3rd and November 11th.
Together with the International Floating Boat Show at the Port Vell of Barcelona this exhibition is the leading event in its sector in Spain and one of the most important commercial platforms in Europe.

Sonar 2007 in Barcelona

L’Auditori in Barcelona will be the stage of one of the most special and exclusive moments at Sónar 2007. As part of the programming on Friday the 15th of June, there will be an experiment which will place electronic sound in contact with classical methodologies and which will bring together musicians from these two traditionally far removed areas once again, in the setting of two unprecedented concerts. Like last year's concert by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto, the piano will be the main feature of this year's joint project between Sónar and L’Auditori. On this occasion, the classical instrument par excellence willl be submitted to various processes of transformation by the trio Alexander’s Annexe feat. Interntional Building Exhibition, Construmat 2007 will be held from the 14th to the 19th of May in the Fira de Barcelona, Montjuïc and Gran Vía exhibition centres.
Construmat 2007  is the International Building Trade Exhibition held in Barcelona from the 14th to the 19th of May in the Fira de Barcelona, Montjuïc and Gran Vía exhibition centres, on Building Supplies, Ceramics for Building Purposes, Building Materials, Building Restoration and Prefabricated Concrete Units.
CONSTRUMAT will host the first ever CONCEPTO BAÑO, International Bathroom Show, which was created as a trade fair platform for sanitary ware, taps, fittings and bathroom furniture. Along the same lines, CONSTRUMAT will also incorporate PINTUDECORA, International Paint Show, which will showcase products from the paint and related services sector.
