The Barcelona Half Marathon, the first long distance race held in the city each year, in its 21st edition will take place this year on January 30th on the distance of 21.097 km, certified by the Royal Spanish Athletic Federation (RFEA), with the start and end on the Passeig Lluis Companys.
The Barcelona Half Marathon is the opening event in a series of Barcelona races open to all runners, and it is also used as preparation for the Barcelona Marathon that will take place in March.

In 1981, catalan artist Antoni Tàpies was commissioned by the Barcelona City Council to create a monument to Picasso, which was unveiled in 1983 at the Passeig de Picasso in the pedestrian area that links with Ciutadella Park.
This Homenatge a Picasso (Tribute to Picasso) is a sculpture inside a glass cube measuring 4 meters along each side that covers the sculpture and protect it from the elements, surrounded by a square pool measuring 11 meters along each edge that acts as a base. Parc de la Ciutadella - Gothic Neighbourhood
The Parc de la Ciutadella was build over the old Citadel or Fortress that the Spanish King Felipe V had built in 1714 to intimidate Catalans against repeating early 18th century rebellion against the Spanish central government. In the middle of the 19th Century the political situation had changed and the Park started to be developed. Josep Fontseré was the Architect in charge of the project but everything changed when the City Hall decided to organize the Universal Exhibition for 1888.
