The apartment

The apartment is on the first floor, with no lift, of an old building from 1847. The spacious old quarters have been renewed and restored for a more contemporary usage keeping the charm of the old days, and is equipped and decorated with Ikea style furniture; resulting in a spacious self-catering Barcelona apartment for short term rental.

Description of the layout:

• A nice spacious living area with two double sofa beds.
• A large comfortable dining area with table and chairs for eight.

• Two bedrooms with double bed and clothes closets.
• One full bathroom with bathtub with shower fixtures. One half bathroom with toilet.
• Fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and freezer, electric counter top stove, oven, microwave oven, toaster, juice squeezer, electric kettle, coffee and tea pots, and all necessary equipment for cooking.
• Restored old wooden windows that open to the balconies.
• Lots of closet space for clothes.
• Stereo radio CD, iron and ironing board, hair dryer.
• Double glazing and special laminated silence glass in windows.
• Central heating & Air Conditioning.
• Bath towels and bed linen are provided.
• Beach towels are not provided.
• Cot for babies upon request. Baby linens are not provided.
• Only one child under two years is free of charge.
• Writing nook.

The building:

The building is an un-renovated stately historic mansion from 1847, with an interior patio vestibule and wrought iron and marble staircase (here the disadvantage is that the entrance and staircase are rather shabby and look as if they have not been painted in decades and needs restoration); situated right next to the lovely plaça and baroque church of La Merce, the patron saint of Barcelona.

Location:

In the old medieval town of Barcelona; a mix of charming, picturesque, old-world neighbourhood with its small shops and famous traditional “tapas bars”, “tascas” and “tavernas” and recent influx of young liberal professionals, university students, artists and foreign immigrants with trendy and ethnic bars, restaurants and fashionable avant-garde shopping.
The Avinyo Street is a very lively and the main pedestrian street in the Gothic Quarter (only passable for vehicles certain hours of the day). It has been a main thoroughfare since the days of the Roman, and in the late 18th and the early 19th century the street was the centre of the aristocratic life of the city. It is only two blocks from the old docks, which are now the site of a great entertainment mall, the “Maremagnum” and the cities yacht and pleasure boat marina, and at walking distance from the most interesting attractions that the city offers: Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya, beaches, the Picasso Museum, the Liceo Opera House, the Cathedral, “el Borne” and the central shopping area, etc.

Rates 

SEASONS 2012

In general there is a 2 or 3 nights minimum stay requirement except on specific dates.

During special events, fairs, congresses and holidays the apartments may have:

• a surcharge,
• a different minimum stay,
• an obligatory prepayment of 100% - (see Terms and Conditions). 

REQUEST BOOKING

Booking fee: 10.00 euros due to management expenses.
Cleaning service fee: There is an obligatory one-time fee of 70.00 euros for apartment-cleaning service at the end of your stay, not included in the above rates tables.
 

Breakage or damage deposit: The owner asks for a deposit of 400.00 euros as a guarantee for the flat (this absolutely must be paid on arrival to the receptionist through VISA or MasterCard). The amount will be returned after departure if no damage has been done to the apartment

Extra cleaning fee: On departure you can not leave any garbage or waste bags in the apartment. If any garbage is left in the apartment an extra cleaning fee will be charged. Since you are staying in the old town and leaving in the morning, please consult the check-in person for garbage disposal places and hours, specially for your departure day.

Lost key surcharge: For every set of keys lost there is a 50.00 euros surcharge.

Official Check in time: Normal check in time in this apartment is from 14:00 to 22:00Hs. If the apartment is available for check in (No previous check out on the same day) check in can be made with no charge from 9:45 to 14:00Hs. 

Early Check in time: Early arrivals, if the apartment is available for check in (No previous check out on the same day) from 07:00 to 9:45Hs have a surcharge of 20.00 euros.
Late Check in time: Late arrivals from 22:00 to 24:00Hs have a surcharge of 20.00 euros. Late arrivals from 24:00 to 07:00Hs have a surcharge of 50.00 euros.

Official Check out time: Check out time is at 9:45Hs. If the damages deposit is guaranteed by your VISA or MasterCard, you can
leave the apartment on your own, BEFORE 09:45h with NO CHECK-OUT FEE.
Early Check out time: If the damages deposit is left in cash, then all departures require a receptionist and there is a CHECK-OUT Fee. Early departures the day before from 14:00 to 22:00Hs have a surcharge of 20.00 euros. Early departures the day before from 22:00 to 24:00Hs have a surcharge of 40.00 euros. Early departures between 24:00 (night before) and 07:00 have a surcharge of 90.00 euros. Departures between 07:00 and 09:45 have a surcharge of 40.00 euros.

All Check in, Check out and extra fees must be paid cash to the receptionist at the moment.

For the luggage on your departure day, if you have a late flight back home, you can carry your bags to the apartment owners office office on weekdays (Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 19:00Hs) to leave your baggage with no fee.

Please note: Reduction of number of guests or of number of nights: These changes must be advised prior to arrival.
Once pre-payment has been made, which confirms a reservation, the reduction of the number of guests or of number of nights, will be subject to a 25.00 euros administration fee for the recalculation of pricing.
But if the number of nights or of guests is reduced between 7 days prior to the arrival and the arrival - recalculation of the price is not possible.

Our main objective is for the client to have a good experience in Barcelona and to enjoy the stay. Clients MUST RESPECT the neighbours, as the apartment is in a residential block. No parties are allowed in the apartment, party outside. If the neighbours complain or the police is called it will result in immediate eviction without refund.

The Meeting Point

The meeting point for this apartment is in front of the same building.
Please remember that once in Barcelona you must call to organize the check-in (allow for approximately 30 minutes minimum).

Wish to thank you for good service and your contribution to a pleasant holiday. Ladies were very pleased with the big apartments and the opportunity to live in a sort of commune. Specially, when the two apartments were actually like one, and we could have the doors open and communicate freely with the whole group. Great place, and enough beds for everyone, good kitchen. Of course there was some noise in the night from the hostel, but on the other hand, the hostel was a safety factor. We felt quite safe because we knew there were people all the time in case we would need emergency or the like.
Andrej is an astonishing man! He brought all duveds and sheets etc. that we needed, he explained everything paciently, late in the evening he even came to the restaurant where we were having dinner, to tell the latest status. He is the perfect person for this job! We could always rely on him.
We got a good basic picture of Barcelona and much more was left for the trips to come. Wish you all the best, and please give our regards to Andrej, too.
